E. Faye Peterson is the founder and principal attorney of The Peterson Group, LLC. She opened her doors in 2008 after scrupulously serving the citizens of Hinds County for six years as the District Attorney. Peterson also worked fiercely as counsel and legal advocate with Central Mississippi Legal Services and the Hinds County Public Defender. She is admitted to practice in both the Federal and State Courts of Mississippi.
She currently specializes in family law and complex criminal defense at The Peterson Group and also serves as a Family Master in the Hinds County Chancery Court. Additionally, she serves on the Board of Directors of the Hinds County Human Resource Agency. She is very active with the Mississippi Volunteer Lawyers’ Project, for which she conducts CLE trainings throughout the year. She was accordingly named “Lawyer of the Year” in October 2010 by the MVLP for her hard work and dedication to the mission of the project.
Peterson is a member of numerous Bar and civic organizations, including: The Mississippi State Bar, The Magnolia Bar Association, The Hinds County Bar Association, Mississippi Women Lawyers’ Association, and the American Trial Lawyers’ Association. She is also a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. and has conducted several national trainings for the organization. She is a resident of Hinds County and has two children.
Candace Gregory-Mayberry joined The Peterson Group in November 2010 and presently serves the firm as associate attorney. Mrs. Gregory-Mayberry is licensed to practice law in both the states of Maryland and Mississippi.
Prior to joining The Peterson Group, Mrs. Gregory-Mayberry worked as an attorney for the Social Security Administration in Virginia handling disability claim appeals. She has also worked for The Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia, Kahn Smith & Collins, P.A. (Maryland), and Temple Law Offices in D.C. where she successfully advocated for clients before the U.S. Parole Commission and in state courts.
Mrs. Gregory-Mayberry brings to The Peterson Group a fire for the practice of law. She is presently a member of the Mississippi Bar Association, Maryland Bar Association, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She is married with one daughter and lives in Hinds County.
